PROVISIONAL SQUAD FOR SA CROSS COUNTRY TRIALS NAMED

A preliminary squad of 54 athletes has been named by Athletics South Africa (ASA), as the nation's top distance runners prepare to battle it out for places at two international cross country events to be held early next year.

SA'S TOP ATHLETES REWARDED

13 December 2017

Athletics South Africa (ASA) will pay a total of R710 000 to the athletes who won medals at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London in August. This forms part of ASA’s incentive programme to achieving athletes.
 
A gold medal pays out R150 000, a silver R100 000 and a bronze R80 000.
 
World record holder Wayde van Niekerk, will therefore receive a total of R250 000

KHUMALO SMASHES UTCT RECORD

02 December 2017

Ultra-trail Cape Town (UTCT) presented by Salomon, which this year forms part of the Ultra-trail World Tour, saw Zimbabwean Prodigal Khumalo smash the men’s race record by just under an hour, in a time of 9:51.00. Other race favourite Ryan Sandes was only minutes behind him in a time of 9:56:03, with Scotty Hawker from New Zealand in third place in a time of 10:04:27.

OLYMPIC CHAMP ELIUD KIPCHOGE TO RUN 2018 LONDON MARATHON

Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge will return to the Virgin Money London Marathon on 22 April 2018 looking to make it a hat-trick of wins in the capital. The Kenyan superstar won in 2015 and was an agonizing eight seconds away from the current world record of two hours two minutes and 57 seconds when he won again a year later.
 
Kipchoge (33) will now return in 2018 looking to confirm his status

CHARITY ENTRIES OPEN FOR 2018 OLD MUTUAL TWO OCEANS MARATHON

For the first time in the history of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon, limited charity entries will also be available for the iconic Ultra Marathon. In 2017, 2000 charity entries were made available for the Half Marathon only. But due to popular demand from runners and charitable organisations, 250 additional charity entries will be available for the 2018 Ultra Marathon event on top of the 2000 Half Marathon ch
