DRAMA AND CONFUSION AMONGST ELITES AT SPAR WOMEN'S RACE

There was drama at the SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, when five elite athletes were disqualified after taking the wrong route.
 
Irvette van Zyl (Nedbank) won the race in 34:26 minutes, just 10 weeks after giving birth to her second son. Jenet Mbhele (Umzimkh) was second in 34:47 minutes and Rutendo Nyahora (Nedbank) was third in 34.56.

SPAR GRAND PRIX COULD BE DECIDED IN PIETERMARITZBURG

With two races to go in the SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge series, Boxer runner Glenrose Xaba appears to be in poll position in the race for the SPAR Grand Prix title.
 
The fifth race in the series takes place in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday and a good win for Xaba would give her a healthy lead going into the final race, at Marks Park Sporting Club in Johannesburg on October 7.

Glenrose Xaba (Boxer) ran a superb race to clinch her first SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge title on Saturday when she won the Pretoria race at Supersport Park in a fast time of 33:56 minutes.
 
Rutendo Nyahora (Nedbank) was second, in 34:24 minutes and defending Grand Prix title holder, Kesa Molotsane (KPMG) was third, in 34:47. Three times Grand Prix winner Irvette van Zyl stunned everyone

The 2018 SPAR Women’s 10km Challenge series has reached the halfway point and the SPAR Grand Prix is still wide open.
